The Scoring clinics will be held on Wednesday May 8th, we will offer a women’s clinic from 1:30pm – 2:30pm and a Men’s Clinic from 2:30pm – 3:30pm. Bill will educate us about the importance of understanding the wedge game and how your equipment set up can impact your performance. The cost of the clinic is $140 and every attendee will receive a customized wedge. Sofia Nogalo wins WMGA/MET AM and NYS Federation Golf Championship
Congratulations to Hollow Brook's very own Sofia Nogalo on two amazing victories over the last few days. On Sunday posted a score of 68 at Bethpage Red to win the NYS Federation Girls Championship. Today she claimed victory at Essex County Country Club to win the Women's Metropolitan Amateur Championship. Keep up the great work Sofia, we are all very proud of you.

Congratulations to Matt Simnor and Scott Batulis who beat Greg Nelson and John Benevento on the 18th hole to win the season long pairs matchplay tournament.
We are experiencing an heavy frost this morning, to accommodate as many players as possible we will be conducting a 10:30am shotgun for the early groups. Any bookings after 10:30am will go off the 1st tee as scheduled.
The Fall arrived at Hollow Brook this weekend, but the cooler temps did not stop the scoring from being super low. The team of Dave Penichter, Greg Nelson and Vinny Carlin posted a gross score of 60 to take the championship, whilst the team of Anthony Oram, Evan Grande, Ken Addeo and Dave DeMilia combined to shoot 19 under par to win the net flight.

Gerald Maric completed the Club Championship double by adding the Men's Club Championship title to the Senior Championship title he won in the Spring. In the 36 hole final Gerald defeated Erik Jaffe 6&4. In a match that ebbed and flow Gerald took control on the front nine in the afternoon session and never looked back.
The Blue Championship Match some fantastic golf was on display over the final holes before Andrew LaSala defeated Dan Ratner at the 1st extra hole.
In the Net Championship Ira Rosen displayed steady golf to take the title from Dalibor Kardum who put up a valiant effort.
The stage is set for the 2022 Men's Club Championship at the Brook!
In the 36 hole championship final starting at 8am is the match up of Gerry Maric and Erik Jaffe. The Blue Flight Championship match see Dan Ratner face Andrew LaSala, whilst the Net Championship is Dalibor Kardum against Ira Rosen. Both of these matches begin at 9:30am and are 18 holes.

31 Teams participated today in our unique Member Sixes event. Teams played best ball for the first 6 holes, modified alternate shot for the middle 6 holes before completing the round playing a scramble.
Winning the overall gross event was the team of posting for 18 holes. The net event was who posted an 18 hole score of under par. Prizes were also awarded for the 1st and 2nd place teams in all 3 formats.

Hollow Brook Juniors feature in Drive Chip and Putt Championship
Hollow Brook Golf Club was heavily represented today with 9 of our current junior players participating in this years Drive, Chip and Putt Championship at Knollwood Country Club. All of them overcome their nerves and showcased their skills and did it all with a huge smile on their faces. As we all know short game is where it counts and this was highlighted with a 2nd place for Soohwa Peacock (girls 7-9) along with 3rd place finishes for Ben LaSala (boys 10-11) and Anika Eyre (Girls 12-13) in the chipping component. Anika also placed 3rd in the putting component for her age group. The professional staff at Hollow Brook are extremely proud of this group of youngsters and are happy to see all of their hard work pay off.
Sunday saw another day of extremely low scoring in the Best Ball format for the Hollow Brook Cup. The team of Gerald Maric and Mike Perkovic combined to take low gross honors with a score of 72, with the pairings of Eric Unterreiner/Joe Quartararo and Derek Steinhiser/Jeff Tjon finishing 2nd and 3rd respectively. In the net division the team of Robert Prestiano and Brad Prestiano posted a spectacular score of 67 to win by 1 shot from Mark Ledwin and Scott Batulis. Robert and Brad will now advance to represent Hollow Brook in the MGA Four Ball Championship.

Congratulations to James Feraca and Scott Matthews for being crowned the 2022 Men's Invitational Champions. Three days of championship golf played in spectacular weather on a course in prime shape produced memories and bonds for the 36 team field. James Feraca wins 2021 Club Championship, Success for Sandy Goldstein and Brad Prestiano
This years Men's Club Championship Finals took place on Sunday morning under perfect golf conditions. The golf course prepared by Chris Smith and his team provided the ultimate test to determine this years champions. In the 36 hole championship match James Feraca continued his fine play to defeat Mike Cooke 5&4. The match had plenty of swing with momentum going both ways before James finally wrestled control on the back 9 and never looked back. Meanwhile in the Blue Flight there was an extremely close match between Sandy Goldstein and Adam Grant which came all the way down to the 18th hole. Sandy managed to close out the match in front of the clubhouse. The Handicap flight saw Brad Prestiano bring his "a game" and produced some of the best golf of his life to defeat Paul Cahan. Paul put up a valiant effort but Brad's performance was just a bridge to far.

The summer tournament schedule at Hollow Brook concluded with the member-member sixes today. This fun team format enabled teams to play the three formats of Best Ball, Modified Alternate Shot and Scramble over the 18 holes. We are excited to announce our Fall Junior Academy for the 2021 season. All sessions will be conducted by the golf professional staff and will ensure all children receive in-depth instruction in a fun environment. Sessions take place for 6 weeks starting the week of September 14th and run from 4:30pm - 5:30pm. Sessions for 4-6 year old's will be on Tuesdays, 7-13 year old's Wednesdays and 14-16 year old's on Thursdays. Cost for the six week program is $250 per child. Cleveland Golf Wedge Clinic and Demo Day - September 4th
Join us on 9-4-2021 at 11:30am for a one hour wedge clinic. Ian will be accompanied by Cleveland/Srixon representative, Bill Flood. The clinic will cover all the bases of short game and will include a personal wedge fitting. The clinic will cost $150. On a perfect summer day, the level of golf at Hollow Brook in the 2021 27-Hole Member/Member Matchplay did not disappoint. Forty Four teams battled it out in 11 flights with the winners of each flight advancing to the shootout out on the 18th hole. The father and son duo of Walter and Daniel Osband made a 3 which was only matched by Jeff Maffei and Dante Antonini thereby eliminating 9 teams and take the shootout back down the 18th fairway. On the 2nd time of asking Dan out his approach shot to 10 feet only for Dante to hit a shot for the ages and lipping out before the ball rested 2 feet above the hole. Walter missed the putt for Team Osband on the low side, setting the stage for Jeff to roll in the putt to claim victory.

Ian Wilson finishes T-2 on Met PGA Assistants Tour!
Congratulations on a superb performance by Ian Wilson in todays Met PGA Assistants Tour event today held at Hollow Brook. Ian shot an even par round to finish tied 2nd behind Lucas Spahl who tasted victory with a one under par round of 70. Past Hollow Brook Assistant Professional Andrew Watson finished in 12th.
Hollow Brook Juniors Shine in Drive, Chip and Putt local qualifying.
The junior golfers at Hollow Brook continue to represent the club with some great performances in the regional qualifying of the 2021 Drive, Chip and Putt event. Max Fitzgerald won the Boys 14-15 year old category and Soohyn Peacock won the girls 12-13 age group. Both are now one step closer to a dream date in the final at Augusta. Soohwa Peacock, Kinsley Steinhiser and Logan Steinhiser also performed excellently but narrowly missed out on advancing. Congratulations to all of you on a great performance and the everyone at Hollow Brook is extremely proud of you.
Sunday saw another day of extremely low scoring in the Best Ball format for the Hollow Brook Cup. The team of Derek Steinhiser and AJ Yoder combined to take low gross honors with a 5 under par score of 66, with the pairings of Matt Fallon/Keith Lambert and Matt Schlosberg/Jeff Tjon finishing 2nd and 3rd respectively.

Jacki Torsoe birdied the 36th hole to beat Mary Jacquemont in the final of the Ladies Club Championship. In a thrilling match that was extremely close with either player never having a lead bigger than 2up, Jacki managed to claim her 2nd Hollow Brook Club Championship.
Hollow Brook Girls Success In HS Section 1 Championships
Current Ladies Club Champion Sofia Nogalo birdied 4 of the last 5 holes to win the Girls High School Section Championship at Whippoorwill yesterday. Sofia carded a 3-over par 76 to win by three shots over Jacqueline Lu. Kirsten Torsoe also represented Hollow Brook after qualifying in her first season playing High School Golf. Congratulations from all the staff at Hollow Brook, we are extremely proud of both of you and the hard work you have both put into your games. It is great to see graduates of our junior program continue to play the game and enjoy success.

The seasons 1st major at Hollow Brook Golf Club was played this weekend on a course in spectacular condition. Chris Smith and his team certainly had the course dialed in to play firm and fast. With a 36 hole total of 143, Gerald Maric and Mike Perkovic defended their title beating Matt Fallon and Brian Sohr by 2 shots. In the Blue/White Flight Gross Champions Bob Silkowitz and Don Zinn posted 148 to hold off the challenge from Andy Ireland and Dan Ratner. While a final round 67 saw Mitch Taube and Larry Hutcher defeat Eric Untereinner and How Quartararo by a shot. The 2021 Women's Flight was won by Jacki Torsoe and Mary Jacquemont who held off a late rally from Danielle Ireland and Daryl Paxson.

On a spectacular Spring morning it was a pleasure to see some of our new members participate in our couples golf tournament. Using a fun and relaxing 2 person scramble format the scoring was extremely low and the team of Ira Rosen and Iris Schneider managed to hold off Mark and Karen Green to earn the championship.

Let me introduce you to Jeremy Basso who is a new member at Hollow Brook. Jeremy is picking up the game again and decided this was the year to go 'all in' and feel more confident on the course.
Speaking with Jeremy we devised a plan and worked on getting of the swing fundamentals in place. However he was still tentative to go on the course so we decided to take our lessons from the range and learn how to manage the golf course. With some insight on how to break a hole down an plot his way from tee to green to give him a chance for success and understanding every shot does not have to be perfect. We proceeded to the par 5, 8th at hole at Hollow Brook where Jeremy hit a drive that missed the fairway to the left, he decided based on pin position he best play was a mid iron to leave himself a full shot into a back pin. He was now faced with an 115 yard shot into the green, with a nice smooth wedge the ball sails into air and starts tracking the flag, the ball lands on the green and rolls into the hole.
So next time you are playing, think like Jeremy and make decisions based on giving yourself the best chance to score!

Sofia Nogalo wins on The Hurricane Junior Golf Tour
Congratulations to our Hollow Brook Ladies Club Champion, Sofia Nogalo who won on the Hurricane Junior Golf Tour last week. Sofia posted scores of 75-74 for a two day total of 149 to win the Long Island Classic Girls 14-18 event. Congratulations Sofia, everyone at Hollow Brook is proud of you.

This weekend saw the return of Junior Golf at Hollow Brook. Saturday was the start of our new Junior Academy Program and Sunday we held our 1st PGA Junior League Practice for the 2021 season. It was an awesome sight to see our returning players welcome many new faces to the program. Each PGA Jr. League golfer will receive: • Two high-quality team jerseys; one orange and one blue (for home and away games). Jerseys are available in boys and girls sizes and customizable with our team name and player’s chosen jersey number! • Performance T-shirt, hat, bag tag, stickers and drawstring bag • 6 team practices and free range balls • 4-6 regular season matches • Opportunity to advance to All-Star teams during post-season.
Practices and matches will be held on Sundays starting May 2nd. The Under 13s team will practice from 3pm - 4pm. The Under 17s team will practice from 4pm - 5pm. Matches will be scheduled once we have our league assignment in the spring. Spring Season should conclude by mid-July.

Kids will learn the game and enjoy relaxed competition in a two-person scramble format that encourages mentorship, builds confidence and teaches sportsmanship. Turkey Trot raises money for The Caring for the Homeless of Peekskill
A huge thank you to all the members who came out and played in the final member event of the year yesterday, we raised $1550 for the Caring for the Homeless of Peekskill. The generosity was overwhelming and will go along way in supporting people during this pandemic. The event winners were AJ Yoder and Derek Steinhiser (65), 2nd Place went to Dave Matera and Eric Unterreiner (69.8) and 3rd to Jon Wexler and Sandy Goldstein (70). Once again thanks to everyone who played and yes Chris will be moving the pins ;-)
Jeff Tjon rounded off his 2020 season by beating Mike McCaffrey in the final of the season long Governors Cup. Jeff, pictured here with his eldest child Ben, adds this trophy to the Club Championship and Woods Cup titles he has already won this season.
Please note we are currently under a frost delay. The 1st tee time is currently scheduled for 10am but this could move later. Please check the tee sheet online to see your updated tee times. The driving range and practice facilities will remain closed until 15 minutes prior to the 1st tee time.
As we prepare for the clocks to change Saturday night it signals that the end of the golf season is not too far away. I want to take this opportunity to thank everyone of you for your support and patience this season which has certainly been different.
For the month of November the 1st tee time during the week will be 9am, if you suspect a frost delay please email me. We will also be reducing guest fees during the week to $72 including golf cart.
The bag room will continue to store clubs until Sunday November 22nd please plan on taking your clubs home at that point. Anyone who has store credit please remember this has to spent by the end of the season, I encourage you to come and shop as soon as possible. I kindly ask for the return of any demo clubs that are being used as soon as possible.
At this time I would personally like to thank Mike, Ian and Jon who are all starting there off season on November 1st. They have worked extremely hard this year in making sure everything ran as smooth as possible and I am sure are they are looking forward to spending time with their families. Andrew, JP and myself will be here until we close.

Schlosberg and Tjon combine to win the 2020 Woods Cup
Matt Schlosberg and Jeff Tjon defeated Sandy Goldstein and Dan Gurfein in the final of the season long Woods Cup. Congrats to Matt and Jeff who defeated the teams of Dan Ratner/Jon Regan, Ken Addeo/Dave DeMilia, Eric Steinberg/Andrew Paland and John Benevento/Greg Nelson on their route to the finals.
Congratulations to Sofia Nogalo who posted a score of 74 to win the 2020 Ladies Club Championship. In the handicap championship Iris Schneider took the honors with a round of 68. Thank you to all the Ladies for playing and making it a fun day.
Congratulations to Matthew Simnor for winning the 2020 Senior Club Championship. Matt shot an even par round of 71 beating runner up James Feraca by 4 shots. In the Net Championship Ed Shaw defeated Tim Miller after both posted rounds of 64.
Forty Teams played in the Fall Member Guest yesterday on awesome Fall day at Hollow Brook. The format was 2 person best ball on the front 9 and a 2 person shamble on the back. Teams were greeted by a course in magnificent condition as well as some interesting pin positions thanks to Chris Smith and his team. Scoring on both formats was low with Bob Silkowitz and his guest Lee Ruth posting 26 in the best ball whilst John Benevento and Dan Zucchi combined for a 30 in the shamble. all four players won a golf bag from TaylorMade. Runners up in both formats and winners of an Adidas 1/4 zip top were Matt Robinson/Carl Steinnman (27 best ball) and Derek Steinhiser/Rob Myers (31 shamble). Nearest the pin was won by Bob Silkowitz and Long Drive by Tom DeMont and received Columbia sweatshirts.

Two days of low scoring on a golf course in prime condition resulted in a highly competitive Best Ball Championship. The team of Gerald Maric and Mike Perkovic posted a magnificant 36 hole total of 136 to win by 10 shots from Ian Flor and Brandon Chatkin. In the Blue/White Championship gross honors went to Don Zinn and Bob Silkowitz with Jon Wexler and Sandy Goldstein in 2nd. In the Net event a super final round of 60 ensure Ed Shaw and Barry Goldstein outlasted Bob and Brad Prestiano.

Forty two teams enjoyed our member-member sixes event today. Teams played 6 holes of Best Ball, followed by a 6 hole scramble before finishing the final 6 holes in a modified alternate shot format. There was also some interesting changes to the golf course layout with a pick your flag format employed on the 3rd, the 14th hole was converted to a par 3 and the 17th hole became a par 4. In the gross event the team of Derek Steinhiser and AJ Yoder posted a 71 to tie with Keith Lambert and Brian Sohr. Medalist honors with a score of 58.8 in the net event went to Gary Reing and Dr. Shanker Krishnamurthy who edged out Rick Boyle and John DeSandre.

Championship Sunday saw some entertaining golf on a course superbly prepared by Chris Smith and his team. The Championship match started with a flurry of birdies and saw Brandon Chatkin triumph over James Faraca. Jeff Tjon won a thrilling match against Joe Quartararo on the 18th hole to claim the Blue Flight Championship. In the Handicap Championship Don Zinn produced some great golf which was just to much for Pat Duffy. Thank you to everyone who played in the event and those that came out and supported the matches.
The Semi Finals of the 2020 Club Championship produced some great golf and some very exciting matches. In the Championship flight James Faraca and Brandon Chatkin advance to the 36 hole final after defeating Matt Simnor and Mike Cooke. In the Blue Flight Joe Quartararo made par on 18 to defeat Eric Steinberg, whist Jeff Tjon defeated Dave Penichter on the 1st extra hole. The Handicap Championship also produced a great contest with Pat Duffy beating Mark Reuter on the 18th. Pat will face Don Zinn who defeated Dan Gurfein in another great match.

On a very unusual weather day of sun, rain, wind and snow. Over 30 members ventured out to play the 3 Club challenge over the front 9. On display was some interesting scoring and club choices, but the highlight of the day was a HOLE IN ONE for JOE BERTINO on the 5th.

First and foremost I hope everyone is healthy and managing to navigate these very stressful times. My goal with these drills and challenges is to give you a distraction whilst at the same time helping improve your golf game. Its been great to hear from people who have been participating, but would love to hear more. Although we can not currently have the usual clubhouse and golf course lets try and make this platform 'the new clubhouse' and I will share our stories.
